Request a Queensland flag

Please read the Free Queensland Flag Protocol before submitting a request for a Queensland flag. 

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to outline the eligibility criteria and administrative procedures for the distribution of free Queensland flags under the State Government’s Free Flag Scheme.

Eligibility

To receive a free Queensland flag, an applicant must have the facilities to permit the proper flying or display of the flag and fall into one of the following categories:

Standard Eligible Organisations

  • Educational Institutions: Pre-schools, kindergartens, primary/secondary/special schools, TAFE, and universities.
  • Youth Groups: Scouts, Girl Guides, and other recognised youth organisations.
  • Community & Service Groups: Ex-service groups, Apex, Lions, Rotary, Quota, Senior Citizens, CWA, and Coast Guard/Rescue units.
  • Welfare & Culture: Benevolent/welfare organisations and ethnic organisations.
  • Sports & Recreation: Sporting clubs and governing bodies.
  • Civic & History: Museums, historical societies, and agricultural/horticultural show societies.
  • Government: Local/semi-government authorities (Councils, Health Authorities, Fire Brigades).
  • Elected Officials: Members of the Queensland Parliament (MLAs), Federal MPs in Queensland, and Queensland Senators.
