MEDIA RELEASE

NEW AMENITIES OPEN AT MOUNT COOLUM NATIONAL PARK

An LNP commitment to deliver new public amenities at Mount Coolum National Park, aimed at
enhancing visitor experience and looking after the environment, has now been completed.

“What a relief ! Excuse the pun. This long-awaited project has been delivered under a first-term
Crisafulli government. 90% of the funds from the State Government in partnership with the local
council on their land has result in this great outcome,” Ms Simpson said.

“Mount Coolum is a key tourism drawcard for visitors to the Sunshine Coast and the project and the
new amenities will support the growing popularity of the site and encourage more visitors to do the
right thing when they are exploring this stunning part of the region.”

The new amenities block was designed with sustainability, safety and accessibility front of mind and
feature a unisex Persons with Disability toilet and three unisex ambulant cubicles.

The building is completed powered by its own solar system in line with the Government’s
commitment to environmentally sustainable infrastructure.

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the new facilities was a commitment of mine to
support the tourists and locals by investing in new infrastructure that improves accessibility and
comfort for all.

“Mount Coolum National Park is a must-visit destination for tourists and locals alike, offering
breathtaking views over the ocean and an incredibly unique hiking experience,” Ms Simpson said.

“Having modern, accessible amenities at the base of the mountain will make the experience more
enjoyable for everyone and will help deliver significant economic benefits to the region.

“Improving comfort for them at the mountain will encourage tourists to linger longer on the Sunshine
Coast and explore all we have to offer.

“This project addresses a long-standing need and ensures Mount Coolum National Park is a
welcoming destination for all.”

Located between Noosa and Caloundra, Mount Coolum National Park is a favourite for tourists
seeking adventure and stunning views. The Mount Coolum summit track is suitable for fit walkers
and offers panoramic ocean views.
