Christmas came early for local conservation volunteers today with a funding boost from the State Government’s Everyone’s Environment grant program.
Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson congratulated the groups on being awarded grants of up to $100,000 to help protect and rejuvenate the environment.
Coolum & District Coast Care will receive $98,800 to undertake coastal ecosystem rehabilitation and Maroochy WaterWatch will receive $100,000 to protect wildlife river habitats.
Ms Simpson said that the money would be put to good use by local volunteers with a passion for making our wonderful area even better.
“These are great organisations who work hard to make practical difference to our beautiful natural environment,” she said.
“Coolum & District Coast Care and Maroochy WaterWatch are supported by an amazing team of volunteers who work together to keep our coastal areas and river catchments clean and free from weeds.”
