Mooloolaba has received a $15,000 funding boost from the State Government to support local events under the latest round of the Events Queensland Regional Development Program (EQRDP).
Events play a key role in attracting visitors to the Sunshine Coast and the funding will deliver economic and social benefits to local business and the whole community.
The Outrigger Canoe National Marathon Titles to be held in Mooloolaba from 18-19 May 2013 has been awarded $10,000. This annual event attracts the best outrigger paddlers from across Australia to compete across a variety of marathon events.
The Mooloolaba Ocean Festival to be held 24 August 2013 has received $5,000. This features the Mooloolaba Ocean Swim and offers varied distances for all ages and ability.
More than $21 million has been invested in 976 events through the Events Queensland Regional Development Program since 2001.
The next EQRDP funding round closes 15 February 2013 for events held between 1 October 2013 and 31 March 2015. For more information go to www.eventsqld.com.au
