Christmas can be challenging for the hundreds of cats and dogs on the Sunshine Coast who have nowhere to call home. Right now, animal rescues are doing it incredibly tough. They’re stretched to capacity and they’re running out of room.
While you might be considering adding a puppy or kitten to the family for Christmas, adult animals are the ones facing the longest waits and struggling the most. These are often the calm, socialised, house-trained companions who slip through the cracks simply because they’re a little older. Yet, they’re the ones who most need a second chance and who repay that chance with extraordinary loyalty.
As a foster-based rescue, 4Paws Animal Rescue relies entirely on the local community to help save lives. I’d encourage you to think about bringing an adult cat or dog into your home, but if you are not ready to adopt there are many ways you can help. You could consider becoming a foster carer instead, by providing a temporary home for an animal in need, while 4Paws work on finding their forever family. There’s also the option to sponsor one of their permanent foster animals or to donate. Every act of kindness has a real impact on the lives of our four-legged friends.
For the animals that are overlooked, forgotten or left behind, your support could change their whole world. For more information about 4Paws and how you can help, or, to apply to adopt or foster one of our Festive Furry Friends, please go to: https://www.4pawsanimalrescue.org.au/
