I was thrilled to hear that the new Mooloolaba water police station will be built on the end of Parkyn Parade, the Spit.
This is something I've been fighting for and it's great to a good outcome. They are currently located on dry land at Kawana and it never made sense to have our water police having to battle traffic to get to their boats in Mooloolaba.
I was similarly heartened by the opening of the new Mooloolaba Police Beat offices in Brisbane Road, and my congratulations to police and staff who worked hard on getting the new facility up and running.
It’s a vast improvement on the old Police Beat, and far more visible.
These are milestone events and a positive win for common sense; and I’m delighted to have been successful in helping them come about.
Our police do a valued job of keeping the community safe – but they need the tools to do it. The water police have had a crazy situation not being based on the water. The new facility should be in place within the next 6-12 months.
