COMMUNITY FIGHTS BACK FROM TOUGH TIMES
WHEN talking to local businesses about how they want Government reformed, Pine Rivers LNP Candidate Seath Holswich and LNP frontbencher Fiona Simpson heard first hand – it was about infrastructure such as the fixing of the AJ Wyllie Bridge.
However, they also heard how the local business community was keen to let people know they’re open for business.
“The Bridge and its impact is still the number one issue – the sooner it’s fixed the better – however there was also a sense that businesses wanted people to know they’re still open for business,” Mr Holswich said. “That’s why the LNP ran a buy local campaign earlier this year and continue to support our local businesses.”
Ms Simpson who has been conducting state-wide Waste Watch roundtables with communities, also heard from many local businesses about how they want Government to be reformed.
“The message we received was that people say Government waste under Labor isn’t just the big spending blowouts such as the health payroll debacle which cost $220 million more than it should – it’s about routine wasted processes and red tape. The LNP wants to fix that,” Ms Simpson said.
“We want to make sure these business leaders and the community are heard to help bring about desperately needed change.”
“The waste must be cut and turned into productivity. That’s the only way to take the pressure off people’s soaring cost of living and make Queensland liveable and affordable again.”
One of the main issues was the overly complicated and bureaucratic structure of Government departments where no one seemed in charge or would take responsibility.
Work Cover premium hikes were also costing local jobs, with question marks raised over how that Government insurance system was being managed.
Mr Holswich and Ms Simpson said the CanDo LNP team would stimulate economic growth by cutting Government red tape.
They urged people to have their say about how Government should be reformed to cut wasteful spending and red tape by going to www.stoplaborwaste.com.
“A CanDo LNP government will focus on people, not politics.”
