Work finally starting on Pacific Paradise pedestrian and cycle path

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson welcomed news that construction of the new Pacific Paradise shared pedestrian and cycle path on the Sunshine Motorway is due to start soon.

The long-awaited 2.3km pathway between the Maroochy River Bridge and Ocean Drive on David Low Way is a vital connection between existing cycles and pedestrian facilities.

Ms Simpson said that North Shore residents have been waiting over two years for work to begin on this Sunshine Motorway Cycle Link Project.

"I have continued to pursue the Minister for a start date for this project since funding was announced two years ago," Ms Simpson said.

Work is scheduled to start in late October and is due for completion in early 2012,  weather permitting.

Residents may experience some disruption during construction, although the majority of work will be undertaken between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of some weekend work.
