Bligh's budget another betrayal

The Sunshine Coast has been hit hard by the Bligh government's budget betrayal with money for a pipeline to the proposed Traveston Dam and next to nothing for the now delayed new hospital, member for Maroochydore,  Fiona Simpson said.

"This government is spending $211.5 million this year on the northern pipeline interconnector stage 2 which is dependent on Traveston Dam. Neither projects have environmental approvals. This is dumb," Ms Simpson said.

"But the new hospital has been delayed by 3 years and replaced with hot air and spin.

"For the state government to claim a pathetic plan for a stranded private hospital with no proper road access, no tertiary level services, and no extra 650 beds, is the answer is dangerous. The coast is already short by 450 beds according to their own research. 650 are required by 2014"2015”

The Bligh government's incompetent economic management is hurting Queenslanders and nowhere is it more evident than on the Sunshine Coast."
