LNP announce discounted weekly fares for go card users
Wednesday, 9 November 2011
The LNP is committed to reducing the cost of public transport for regular go card users. Leader Campbell Newman recently announced a policy to give free travel for additional trips if you use your go card more than nine times in a week.
For regular rail commuters from Palmwoods to Brisbane, this will save them more than $600 per year.
This will be a real saving to regular go card users and an incentive for people to use public transport to travel to and from work. For commuters, this will mean that their trip home on Friday and all travel over the weekend is free.
The Bligh Labor Government has forced up the cost of tickets while failing to provide a reliable and safe public transport network. For commuters, public transport has become too expensive and unreliable.
The LNP wants to reward daily commuters and help to bring the cost of living down for Queensland families. We will cut waste and revitalise public transport services.
