Mums and bubs win a head start

Sunshine Coast mothers and their children have won a boost from the LNP’s newly announced “Mums and Bubs” policy which will see maternal health nurses visiting new parents at home to provide much needed support.

Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson welcomed the LNP’s $92 million Maternal and Child Health Service policy saying it would provide parents with much needed additional support from nurses with maternal and child healthcare experience.

“Early support goes a long way to helping people through what can be an exciting but daunting challenge when parents first arrive home with their bundles of joy,” Ms Simpson said. “These nurses will provide advice and support on child health, parenting, early infant development, maternal health and wellbeing, immunisation and nutrition.”

The service will provide home visits at two and four weeks of age, and free consultations at community centres at two, four, eight, and twelve months old.
