Grow our Four Pillar Economy - centred on Tourism, Agriculture, Resources and Construction
Wednesday, 22 February 2012
A CanDo LNP Government will transform Queensland into the engine room of Australia's economy and reduce unemployment in Queensland to 4 per cent in six years.
The Bligh Government has failed to meet its last election promise to create 100,000 new full-time jobs in Queensland and instead imposed new taxes, like their waste levy, that deter jobs creation and are a disincentive for people to work. In fact, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics there are now 138,800 people unemployed in Queensland compared to 116,000 in March 2009.
To achieve our unemployment target, the LNP will grow a four pillar economy in Queensland through agriculture, tourism, resources, and construction.
The LNP will focus on addressing areas of skills shortages and has released detailed strategies to rebuild and support the industries that underpin Queensland's wider economic growth.
The LNP's four pillars-approach will build a more productive and resilient economy to serve the Queensland people, providing social and business infrastructure, and the services to meet the challenges of a globalised economy.
